An Early Affinity With Art
Mackenzie Thorpe's affinity for all things artistic shone through from an early age when he would enjoy making his own little pieces of art using any materials he could find, whether it was cigarette packets, eye-shadow or lipstick snuck out of his mother's handbag!
The Visual Language
Though Mackenzie struggled with dyslexia throughout his childhood in Middlesborough, art was very much a language or a form of communication in which he certainly excelled. Before long he found himself in the Middlesborough College of Art and then subsequently the Byam Shaw School of Art.
Transcending Divisions
Perhaps one of the reasons why his works of art have become well-loved by so many is that they touch on many huge themes of humanity, themes which reach across the boundaries that may have been constructed between individuals in society.
