A Passion For Nature
It should be of no surprise that Sanit Phokrachang developed a passion for the natural world. Sanit grew up in the rice fields of central Thailand, and it was there in his early years that he was able to spend time observing wildlife. On top of his passion for the natural world around us, Sanit had a concurrent love for art and creativity. There was never going to be any other potential choices for him when it came to his primary subject of study, so deep was his interest in creative expression and art. As such, he enrolled in Fine Arts firstly at Lad Krabang, before then attending Thailand's most prestigious art college, Silapakorn University. It was at this university that he gained his BA in Fine Arts.
Stunning Animal Sculptures
Although Sanit is now known for his spectacular sculptures, he also had interests in other media before settling on sculpture, having spent much time painting and etching. It was, however, in the world of sculpture that he found his true calling. Soon enough, he began to develop a keen aptitude in marrying his love of nature with sculpture, choosing to focus on wildlife studies often in his work. One of the huge selling points of his sculpture is the sense of dynamism that he is able to capture in the small details of texture and shape. It is as if the sculpted animal is about to burst off into the air, so effective is his realistic portrayal.
