Stunning New Decorative Mirrors in Various Designs

We have just received delivery of some beautiful new decorative wall mirrors. These kind of mirrors are useful as well as beautiful and can be used in various places like the back wall at the end of a short hallway or even a stairway to make it appear longer or higher. Or why not make it more of a feature in your lounge or dining room. Things like this can create a talking point.

Most of our decorative mirrors can be found in unique frames and can come in a variety of colours. Silver being a popular choice at the moment there has been a huge addition of silver mirrors in the past few years. A perfect example of this is our Square Ribbon Wall Mirror (below), a decorative mirror like this is often used more as a feature or like a sculpture rather than a mirror.

The mirror to our right is another great mirror to create a feature, a bit more understated but this kind of mirror can create lots of space and feeling of depth. The concaved frame draws you in while the pierced ribbed sections adds more light and dimension creating that feeling of depth. The Enid Hutt Gallery will be exhibiting at the Homes & Interiors Scotland Exhibition at the SECC Glasgow this year. Now established as the leading interiors event in the country, the Homes & Interiors Scotland Exhibition 2010, brings together the most stylish interiors Scotland has to offer. Featuring renowned designers, noted interiors companies and inspirational room-sets, it's a wide-reaching affair, starring everything you need to make a beautiful home - all under one roof. The event takes place at the SECC, Glasgow on Friday 27th, Saturday 28th and Sunday 29th August, 10am-5pm.

With the largest display of art and mirrors all on one stand giving you a taste into what the Enid Hutt Gallery has to offer. The display brings the possibilities to something different and inspirational on your walls.

Our stand will be showing stunning new limited edition prints and original art from Fabian Perez and some exclusive features from Lorenzo Quinn including some rare sold out pieces. How a Mirror can change the look and feel of a room

We're all aware that mirrors can have an ability to change how we see a room and the space within it. Oddly though, it seems that a lot of people are missing the trick. Mirrors are seen as purely functional items. They help with making us look presentable before we leave the house, certainly. However, with a little thought behind the shape of the mirror, and where they're placed, the difference can be incredible.

One of the oldest tricks in the book is placing a mirror directly opposite a door or window. Naturally reflecting the light creates this wonderful illusion of broader spaces. It seems obvious when you think about it; it makes perfect sense, and is farly easy to achieve.

What of the odd shapes of room? The awkward walls and elongated spaces?

Sometimes it's those peculiar nooks and crannies that attract us to a house. But those very individualities can be a headache when we try to get creative. Surprisingly, it's not such a pain to enhance those dificult rooms. Long corridors and thin rooms lend themselves to this very well. By placing a mirror on the longest wall, the impression of depth is added, and the shorter walls are balanced out.

When we take away the purely functional aspect of the mirror, a new world opens up to us, and our homes unfold in beautiful and interesting new ways.

Just because there’s a wintry chill outside doesn’t mean your home décor has to follow suit. The beginning of the year is a time that many home owners decide their home needs a fresh look.

By simply placing some art prints or metal wall sculptures on your walls, they can actually make quite an impact. Wall art is a necessary accessory in your home and is great to tie in with the room's style and colour accent. In order to get the maximum effect in terms of adding character and focal point to the room, you need to decide where and how you want to hang them.

Below are some suggestions to help you decide how to get the best effects from your pictures:-

Modern Gallery Look: To create a modern art gallery feel, particularly nice in hallways, lobbies and stairwells, give each piece ample breathing room. Stand at the center of the first piece and take one swift, or two small steps along the wall. This is a good center for the next piece.
Above a Sofa: When placing artwork above furniture such as a sofa, you need to hang the picture about six to nine inches above the sofa, or at eye level depending on the size.
Cluster Arrangements: Tightly group an even number of pictures together to give a statement or a focal point. This works on either large or small wall spaces, depending on the look you want.
In a row: By placing an odd number of pictures in a horizontal line to each other gives balance and the sense of space. This works particularly well in hallways or stairwells.

By deciding where and how to hang your pictures, whether it be a tight cluster or a single print above a sofa, you can then determine the size and shape of the pictures you need to buy. You can even mix and match different styles to create a unique style of your own. For example if living in an older style building but have a more modern decor, you can simply have modern artwork framed in older style frames or even have an elaborate decorative mirror as the focal point above your sofa or fireplace.
