Alex's childhood was one that started in a collective farm called a kolhoz and he later spent time in concentration camps during world war II. While in a refugee camp, his mother used to entertain the British troops as a dancer and eventually they moved to Britain in 1947.
Alex Jawdokimov trained as a designer / illustrator at Somerset College of Art in Taunton and has produced many book covers and illustrations for magazines. He is a man of many talents being able to act, dance, and speak several languages but he has always had a passion for painting.
Birch trees are the national tree of Russia and were a part of Alex's childhood. Alex Jawdokimov shows an admiration for these trees through his artwork, not only for their beauty but for their ability to provide resources from footwear to the health benefits of the sap.
