Landscapes and Seascapes Layered with Memory and Imagination

Andrea Mosey is based in North Yorkshire, where she has a studio in the old Stables at the historic Newby Hall, near Ripon. She is inspired by the landscapes and coastlines around her. When Andrea starts working on a painting, her process firstly involves an image of a place. Then, it is layered with memories and her imagination to create something that is familiar yet intangible. Her artwork is not necessarily true to life but more like a memory or a dream.

These expressive snapshots of places give the viewer a moment to pause and think. These are places that we know and love, yet can’t always pinpoint. Looking upon Andrea Mosey’s art evokes the memory or feeling of when we were there. They seem to tell a mesmerising story using colour, light and shade, and it’s one that you can stand and stare at for ages.
