Painting From The Early Years

Born in Bournemouth in 1970, Paul Corfield started painting at an early age but was eventually to turn down a place at art school in favour of working in the aerospace industry. There he stayed for thirteen years until his wife suffered a severe stroke and he found himself facing the prospect of caring for her for the rest of her life.

Paul took voluntary redundancy but feared that he would never have the opportunity to become a full time artist. Whilst working as an engineer he had continued to paint in the evenings and had managed to sell many works to customers across the world. He had been considering turning to art full time when his wife became so desperately unwell. Happily his wife, Sara, made a full recovery and Paul was able to focus on his creative endeavours full time.

Developing His Own Style

He initially continued working in the photorealistic style that he had already brought him success but he later developed a new style that he had been keen to explore. He had always been fascinated by the simple, serene and colourful landscapes of children’s television programmes and was inspired to create something similar in his own paintings. As a child his favourite programme was Mr Benn! Paul had also been studying the great Impressionist painters and their use of colour. He describes his most recent artwork as fusion of these rather diverse influences. Who could have imagined that inspiration could be simultaneously drawn from Postman Pat and Renoir?

Charming British Landscapes

Paul is also inspired by the Dorset coast and countryside which provides the subjects for his compositions. He has never lived more than 10 miles from his home town of Bournemouth and now resides and works in the picturesque town of Poole. It is impossible not to be captivated by the simple, charming and colourful landscapes which characterise his unique style.

This appealing collection of Paul Corfield prints are available as signed limited editions canvas on boards or framed if you prefer and come with a certificate of authenticity.
