Jack Vettriano Valentine Event Raises £86,000 for Charity

Jack Vettriano and Alex Salmond

The 2010 First Minister’s Christmas card painted by Jack Vettriano has raised £86,000 for charity. The original oil painting and limited edition prints of the image were sold at auction in St Andrews on Friday raising a staggering amount for these amazing charities.

Let's Twist Again - Jack Vettriano (Original Painting)

The original painting – Let’s Twist Again, featuring a dancing couple at a festive party raised £68,000 while a special collection of limited edition prints went for £18,000. The original painting which was expected to sell for £25,000 was unveiled by Mr Salmond at the National Gallery of Scotland in December.

The money raised on the night will go to Bethany Christian Trust, Maggie’s Cancer Caring Centres, Quarriers and Teenage Cancer Trust.

Alex Salmond said: “Jack is a great supporter of good causes and his distinctive style is recognised around the world. He has proven himself time and again to be Scotland’s painter of the people.”

Previously declined to display any of Jack Vettriano’s works, the National Galleries announced on Thursday his self-portrait The Weight will be exhibited at the Scottish National Portrait Gallery from September 2011.

We’ve changed the way we look

We are delighted to announce the completion of our brand new showroom in Kirkcaldy, Fife. Since turning 20 earlier this year the Enid Hutt Gallery celebrated with a complete refurbishment including an extension to our large showroom space, and the launch of our second website – Mirror-Shop.co.uk

Since starting the business in 1990 the gallery space has grown dramatically; doubling in size within 5 years of opening and until recently housed an onsite workshop. Recent years have seen an increase in demand for both services and showroom space necessitating a larger workshop. The decision was taken to relocate the workshop to an industrial unit resulting in 60% more gallery space and allowing for larger contract framing work to be undertaken as well as customers bespoke orders in which the gallery specialises.

Customers will see a dramatic change to the gallery space which features a stunning black and white interior warmed by the rich bamboo flooring to contrast the vivid colours of the art work. Whilst contemporary, the gallery will preserve the relaxed environment and offer additional services such as local and international artist exhibitions and corporate events.

Not only have we changed the gallery image in store but also online. You may have started to see our new branding on packaging tape and receipts before we officially launched the new logo.

Our new branding is our message to you, to authenticate our contemporary image with traditional values whilst bringing you the very best in art, mirrors and framing setting the mark for other galleries in Scotland and cementing its reputation as Scotland’s leading art, framing and online gallery.
