Alexander Millar

20130424-232830.jpgEnid Hutt Gallery are thrilled to launch the exciting new spring collection of seven new pieces from contemporary artist ‘Alexander Millar’.

The trademark collection consists of four small limited edition sketches, which will make a delightful gift or accompaniment to his previous pieces.

The two larger paper images depict a nostalgic theme, “The Pigeon Fancier” and “Gone Fishing”, which are already selling very quickly.

Finally “Day Break” the edition on canvas depicts a more atmospheric scene, conveying the early morning start to a day, with the familiar ‘gadgie’ character.

In this collection Alexander Millar cleverly brings ever more humanity into his paintings, his defined depiction of these working men, allows us to associate with them like never before. Their lives and loves, trials and tribulations, hopes and dreams, are laid out before us on canvas.

Stuart McAlpine Miller Biography and News

20120909-022241.jpgStuart McAlpine Miller is the hottest artist this year tipped to be one of the greats and an artist whose work could be worth a significant amount in years to come. His unique style and ideas which he has worked to develop over the last 20 years will be the focus of his current work. 2012 presents McAlpine Miller with an exciting residency at The Savoy Hotel. He will be creating a series of 8 paintings to feature in their iconic foyer. This is alongside other High Profile commissions in both London and Hong Kong. His work continues to develop.

Shortlisted for the Provost Award at Kelvingrove Art Galleries and Museums in 1996 his work has continued to attract the attention of galleries and collectors across the world.

Four low numbered signed limited edition prints are released in both paper and canvas editions.

Artists Statement

“This new series of works celebrates the culmination of ideas based upon the last 20 years. 20120909-024108.jpgThese paintings concentrate and focus on the fading of one idea into another with distorted images and abstracted thoughts. Based on the notion that we live in a throw away world each painting both suggests and questions the importance of certain celebrated things. Celebrity, Fame, Money and Greed feature as important issues for each of us. These are depicted as both fading memories and future hopes. 20120909-024554.jpgThe comic imagery signifies the unimportance of these things and helps to suggest that they have been manufactured for a temporary audience. Looking more closely the paintings illustrate a feeling of shallow existence. Surrounded by a myriad of colour, shapes and abstractions our lives are exactly the opposite. The ‘LIVING FOR THE MOMENT’ society, which actively encourages human singularism, seems almost unsustainable. Perhaps a return to
truer values is the way forward. Certainly with current consumerism and appetite for fame and success, societies will neither progress nor benefit. Take a look…now take a closer look.” McAlpine Miller

Having worked to develop his unique style McAlpine Miller is now concentrating his attentions on an exciting new series of work as premiered at Memories & Futures, Grosvenor Street, Mayfair in 2010.

New signed limited edition artwork from Iain Faulkner

20120613-015857.jpgAstounding new artwork from Iain Faulkner. A series of new editions have been released this year the latest are pictured here. With compositions developed in the course of his 15year career, Iain Faulkner has paved the way for a re-discovery of the almost-forgotten Romantic Movement, allowing a younger generation of artists, painters, sculptors and photographers to follow into the richness the artistic period.

His recurring theme of reflection is a simple yet extraordinary effect which has a profound meaning in the artist’s mind. He studies the optical effects of colour, light and refraction in a body of water, whether that is a humble puddle or a grand loch at home in Scotland. His talents are simply amazing and it is not surprising when his limited edition prints sell out in weeks of release.

Iain Faulkner was born in Glasgow. Since graduating from Glasgow School of Art in 1996 with a BA in Fine Art, he has established himself as a skilled draughtsman with the integrity to embrace the difficult path of contemporary figurative painting. Still only in his 30s, he has already had numerous successful solo shows in the UK, USA, Spain and Italy. Iain was commissioned to paint the European 2010 Ryder Cup Team member portraits.

Mallett’s Palette – An Exhibition of Work from the TV Personality Timmy Mallett

Timmy Mallett

We are delighted to announce a forth coming exhibition of original and limited edition artwork by Timmy Mallett. Timmy will be opening the exhibition on the 23rd of March with a preview evening from 6:30pm – 9pm with the exhibition continuing until the 8th of April 2012.

Born October 1955 in Marple, Cheshire and has a flair for art after being encouraged to draw and paint as a child. Timmy loves painting and reaches for his Mallett’s Palette at the drop of a brush. He works in acrylics and oils as well as watercolour. Much of his inspiration comes from the UK and trips all across the world.

Timmy’s striking visual style was an instant hit early in his career. He achieved cult status on BBC Radio Oxford and Manchester’s Piccadilly Radio and later on TV-am. He is most known for his loud shirts, colourful glasses and the giant pink foam mallett, Mallett’s Mallet and his little one Pinky Punky. Timmy Mallett ArtNot only is he a great TV and Radio personality and artist but a very successful musician. A member of the band Bombalurina, selling over a million copies of his record single “Itsy Bitsy Teeny Weeny Yellow Polka Dot Bikini”. The song entered the charts at number 23 and rose to 13 the next week and finally to number 1 on the 19th August 1990 where it remained for 3 weeks.

It’s not surprising Timmy Mallett decided to pick up a paint brush considering how colourful a personality he is. Timmy studied History of Art as part of his degree at Warwick University and his paintings can be bought from prestigious galleries across the country. In recent years he has enjoyed a keen artistic friendship and interaction with Rolf Harris. Rolf says “He is an enthusiastic and exciting artist…I’m knocked out by his work.”
