Keith Proctor
We have some fantastic Keith Proctor art here at the Enid Hutt Gallery which we would love for you to explore. Keith Proctor has been an artist for over 30 years, and over the course of this time he has developed a wide and passionate following. We have a charming selection of paintings featuring childhood scenes that have a nostalgia and innocence about them. On his artistic path, Keith Proctor says: "I have been painting all my life; having had no formal art training, I am a self taught artist. I was first encouraged by my late father Mark Proctor, who was a commercial artist. My father could sketch almost anything very well and quickly; which always fascinated me, and I wanted to be able do it to, so he showed me how."

Authentic and Joyful Art
We are all very glad that he followed in his father's footsteps to become an artist, as the results have been astounding. His artwork is full of love and a deep authenticity. He takes much inspiration from being a father and you can see this from the chidlhood scenes of the work of his we have in our collection. From a girl having a conversation with a puppy, to a boy curiously exploring the meadow grass. Keith has said: "I have a fresh new outlook and a different approach to my work now, my intention is simply to paint on and enjoy."
Inspired From an Early Age
His first inspiration when he was initially drawn to art was in nature, as he says: "My first paintings (which I still have) were of birds, as I have always had a big interest in Natural History. Aged nine I illustrated a little book of my own that was "copied" from the British book of birds; which was illustrated by my now favourite artist Raymond Harris Ching. I suppose from the day I completed that little book I was hooked!"
