Stephanie Rew
Stephanie Rew's paintings are beautiful figurative works of art primarily focusing on the female form draped with luxurious fabrics such as kimonos, corsets and bustles. These are powerful pieces that have an air of mystery and contemplation through half hidden faces, folds of fabric and forms balanced between light and dark.

Stephanie Rew was born in 1971 and grew up in Edinburgh. She studied at the Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art in Dundee and then moved around the UK, including Brighton and London, before settling back in Edinburgh. Stephanie Rew now has a growing number of collectors worldwide, including large companies such as P&O Ferries, Standard Chartered plc and RBS who choose to hang her work in their headquarters in Edinburgh.
An interest in dance and costume can be seen through Stephanie's paintings which feature the rich patterns and elegance of the kimono and the drama and textures of corsets and bustles. She had previously spent time studying aerial dancers in Edinburgh and the Dundee Repertory Dance Company at rehearsals where the strength and elegance of the dancers captivated her.
Stephanie Rew's paintings are inspired by a range of artists and styles, from Holbein and Whistlers portraits to the woodcuts of the Japanese Ukiyo-e and Baroque oil painting. Glazing is an important part of finishing her artwork as it gives the piece an inner glow and enriches the colours.
