Eventually Douglas began specialising in book illustrations and his art adorned the covers of many books published by Hodder & Stroughton, Corgi and Pan Macmillan. He also produced caricatures and his subjects included Jack Nicholson and Clint Eastwood. Eventually, however, he was to concentrate on fine art.
Douglas Gray lives in Scarborough where he and his wife have a fine art gallery. He paints contemporary metropolitan scenes, figurative and marine subjects. He is inspired by the great European cities like London, Paris and Venice as well as by the beauty of the coast. In 2013 he was elected a full member of the Royal Society of Marine Artists (RSMA). His many awards include Winsor and Newton 'Best Oil Painting' award, the Russell and Chappelle awards 2012 and 2013, and 'The Artist' magazine award.
Douglas is represented in galleries across the globe and his paintings are sought after internationally. At the Enid Hutt Gallery we are delighted to present a fabulous collection of Douglas Grays atmospheric and timeless work.
