Xue Wang
We are delighted to showcase an exciting selection of Xue Wang art here at the Enid Hutt Gallery. We offer a striking selection of limited edition pieces from Wang's Heebie Jeebies collection which is her own very individual take on ghosts! To Wang ghosts are not sinister beings who threaten mortals but rather mischief makers who play with our sense of security by leaving messages from the other side.

Xue Wang's career began in the world of fashion. She studied for a degree in fashion in China and then moved to London to complete her MA at the University of Westminster. Eventually she found that art was a more immediate way to express her ideas as she enjoyed giving her imagination free rein. She could experiment with her novel ideas and loved the intimacy that was possible with painting. Wang is now acknowledged as a rising star of contemporary art.
Heebie Jeebies combines a dash of old fashioned glamour with the supernatural and a risqué attitude. Xue Wang's art is inspired by Hollywood, childhood toys, fairy tales and vintage fashion. Stylish ladies are depicted with their ghostly friends. The works have the feel of comic books and street art that is exhibited in "lowbrow" art but in the form of oil paintings as opposed to digital works. They are the perfect blend of contemporary culture, traditional imagery and classical skills.
The Heebie Jeebies collection is certainly attracting much attention and it isn't difficult to see why. The fabulous fusion of exceptional technique and whimsical humour is fascinating. Each piece features an interesting juxtaposition of period imagery with contemporary comic book treatment. Who could fail to be drawn to those cheeky apparitions who are playing havoc with everyday lives? The compositions are striking, appealing, quirky and completely unique. We would encourage you to feature a piece of Xue Wang art work in your home. Her originals are now extremely hard to come by and so this series of signed limited edition canvas on board pieces represents an important opportunity that should not be missed.
