Experiments with Technique and Materials

Frank studied Graphic Design and then Film Design, and this technical grounding is something which you can also see in his artwork. Although he found his time in film and advertising rewarding, his decision to become an artist was one which he felt got him back on the right creative path. He has said that he is thankful for the journey that he made through the world of advertising and film, as it has helped him find his artistic voice.

Art with Movement

Where in his twenties he would not be so interested in experimenting with materials and techniques, Frank now does this so that he can conjure up a sense of dynamism. Bringing his work with film into his painting practice, Frank wants his paintings to have a sense of movement. In this way, he thinks of his work as the space where 'paint, canvas and digital film frame meet'. This technique lends itself well to the subject of many of his paintings.

Beauty of Wildlife

You will see that Frank is interested in capturing the power, beauty and elegance of wildlife. He has brought to his work wildlife from his native South Africa and England, and indeed, because of this clear skill, he has been invited to contribute works for the annual Explorers Against Extinction’s exhibition named "Sketch for Survival". Although only relatively recently beginning his art career in earnest, he has also had his work exhibited in the Contemporary Art Fairs in Windsor 2019.
