About Sophie Kilpatrick
Sophie Kilpatrick has had a lifelong passion for art, and indeed she exhibited her first piece of art at the age of 4 at the local Alfred East Gallery in Kettering. She was born nearby in Barton Seagrave in 1987, and she went on to study Art & Design at Latimer Community Arts College, before then studying Pet Portraits in all mediums at the London Art College. It was here that she discovered both her love and her great aptitude for wildlife photo realism. Her artwork today shows that this is an approach which she has absolutely mastered. This is artwork that offers a window into the wonderful world of the animal kingdom.
Her work was given more importance when her mother sadly died in 2017. Since then, she has been even more driven to pursue what makes her happy, realising that one has to embrace those things in life which bring joy. She also aims through her work to help express to others the importance of chasing your dreams.
Highly Realistic Wildlife Art
Working mainly in acrylics, Sophie is able to paint in a way that is sensitive to each animal's details, in colour, shape and texture. The patterns on the big cats' furs for example is something which really comes out in a striking way in her highly realistic paintings. Whether it is a tiger or a leopard, Sophie's representations give you a sense of the real thing. The details in the fur patterns are matched by a subtlety in the depiction of those parts of the animal such as the eyes, which offer an insight into the character and emotional identity of the animal.
