Since last year I have predominately painted in oil on canvas. Capturing the character and soul of the animal in their eyes and the softness of the fur on the beast, is what I endeavor to create in my work.

The Enid Hutt Gallery is honoured to feature the work of one of Scotland's most exciting contemporary artists Georgina McMaster. Our stunning collection of signed limited edition giclee prints showcases the breadth of McMaster's compositions which celebrate wildlife and domestic animals. Each of her subject's has something of a twinkle in their eye and a tangible character that leaps out of the frame.
Georgina McMaster was born into an artistic family and she was encouraged to explore her talent. She graduated from the Edinburgh College of Art and her early work was linear in nature, highlighting the movement of her subjects. It was, however, the unique character and the magnificent coats of the animals that were to become her focus.
McMaster uses layers of paint and a variety of brushwork to create great texture. You simply want to reach out and stroke each of her subjects which she imbues with distinct personalities. You sense that you can engage with her characters and feel the life in their eyes. Her characters are depicted against plain, empty backgrounds, highlighting the animals and not their environments. It is as if a spotlight has been thrown onto the subjects and it is the animals which take centre stage. McMaster manages at once to capture the essence of the species and the uniqueness of the individual and so it is appropriate that the title of each work is the name she has chosen for her characterful subject.
Georgina was brought up with four cats, a dog and three horses and so it is no surprise that she is fond of bringing domestic animals to life. Her work also showcases the wildlife of her native Scotland and the creatures she loves to study at Edinburgh Zoo and the Highland Wildlife Park in Kincraig. She also spent some time in India at the Bandhavgarh Tiger Reserve revelling in the glory of the majestic creatures she encountered and has since produced several works featuring tigers, some of which we are delighted to feature in our collection.
Georgina McMaster has a growing following amongst collectors and has won several prestigious awards. Indeed it is not difficult to see why she has garnered such favour with her outstanding and endearing work which we would strongly recommend that you explore. At the Enid Hutt Gallery we are pleased to offer you a fine selection of prints featuring tigers like the stunning Zakir, highland cattle including the wonderful Douglas and the lively animated hares of The Perfect Match. Watch this space for new additions too as we are sure that Georgina McMaster's work will grow in popularity in the coming years.
