Chris Chapman
Chris is an experienced and accomplished artist, enjoying a successful career as an illustrator after graduating from Leicester College of Art, England in 1979, where he studied graphic art and design. He turned his focus from illustrating to fine art in 2009 and his popular gallery series, featuring depictions of famous paintings, sells in selected galleries throughout the UK. Chris Chapman prints are available as signed limited editions some with hand embellishments. Each artwork is full of warmth and humour and you can see that Chris enjoys the process of creating the jokes as much as executing the final paintings.

Gallery Series
In Chris Champman's 'Gallery Series' he takes a humorous look at the some of the big names in art history. In Chapman's paintings we see a single man or woman with their dog (or sometimes frogs in the case of Monet) viewing a famous artist's work in a gallery. The titles of each painting make a joke of the artists' name or work in a fun and lighthearted way for example 'Salvador Doolali - Melt'. While the characters viewing the work often have props or are painted in a way that mimics the artist's style. Such as the seat the characters are perched on is melting in the same fashion as the clocks in the painting.
Abstract Paintings Without Brushes
Recently, he has begun producing abstract paintings, mostly with acrylics but some with texture as well. The majority of these are made without using brushes and this, coupled with the bold application of paint, provides Chris with a much looser way of working in contrast to the high level of detailed brushwork he employs in the gallery series.
After spending the early years of his career in London, he now lives and works in Bournemouth, Dorset. When not at work in his studio he can usually be found paddle boarding, windsurfing, mountain biking, or walking his Border Collie on the beach.
