A Creative Start
Jennifer grew up in rural Bedfordshire and spent as much time as possible outdoors. She was always a creative spirit but had no formal training and her career may never have happened at all had she not been disappointed with the décor in her first marital home. Underwhelmed by the expanse of plain magnolia walls Jennifer decided to get her brushes out to paint some pieces to enhance the character of the place. She moved on to paint commercially and her first picture of a highland cow was a breakthrough moment. The piece sold immediately and was adored by family and friends. The McMoos had arrived!
Painting The McMoos
Jennifer now lives and works in Wiltshire where her McMoos are brought to life in none other than a former milking shed. Her signature style is the result of her amazing observational powers and a fabulous sense of colour. Her creations begin with pencil sketches to establish the outline of the composition which she works on until she is completely satisfied. She then applies the paint in layers ensuring that each application dries as soon as possible to create the wonderful colour and texture in her work. She is even given to using a hairdryer to speed up the process! She begins with the animal's noses and works outwards adding touches of white in the final layer to enhance the feeling of light and depth.
Jennifer Hogwood Prints
To complete the works Jennifer introduces extra elements to add life and character including little jewels that really give the cows a glint in their eyes. Jennifer appreciates the unique character, great personality and quirky nature of her subjects and her McMoos are certainly highly engaging creatures which we are delighted to showcase here at the Enid Hutt Gallery. We are pleased to offer you a range of embellished canvases on board and signed limited edition giclee prints featuring the wonderful McMoos which we are sure you will love as much as we do.
