A Graphic Design Background

In 1997, Sannib graduated in Graphic Design from the Syrian Design Center, Aleppo, Syria. He then went on to work for 18 years in advertising in places such as Kuwait, the UAE and London before turning towards being a notable artist.

Combined Skills

The experience Sannib gained working in graphic design and advertising can be seen in his creative mixed media art today. Pulling on skills learnt over the years, he merges the two areas to create compositions that are sophisticated and captivating. Graphic elements are layered with textural elements and paint in a unique mixed media style. Vibrant colours inspired by nature, such as golden shades of earth and the blue of the sky and sea are highly distinctive and combined with avant-garde finishes.

The Story Behind the Half Face

His portraits often have part of their faces hidden or marked by the paint layered over the top. Sannib is exploring what he calls 'the story behind the half face'. Looking into the idea that everyone has a contrasting side to their personality which isn’t visible. One half is public facing, the other half an unknown story / something secret. He uses legendary and beloved celebrities as well-known public faces to represent his ideas through his mixed media artworks.
