Louise Schofield

Louise Schofield was born in Barnsley, South Yorkshire, and she has said that the surrounding countryside, as well as the Yorkshire coastline, played its part in her formative years of artistic inspiration. Long walks through beautiful woodlands and peaceful days watching wildlife and playing in rock pools and streams all fed into what has become a rich and vivid imagination, and a deep appreciation for the beauty in natural landscapes.

A Journey of Discovery
Louise left art college in 1991 and at the age of 20 was already beginning to sell her artwork in the local shopping centre where she would captivate audiences as they watched her work on paintings of pets and wildlife scenes. Her artistic career then took a break around 2001. When she had her first child, Louise decided that it was only right to make sure she was able to provide a childhood as idyllic and inspiring as she had enjoyed.
Originality and Free Flowing Expression
It was then that Louise Schofield, working from her home studio, chanced upon a brilliant discovery that widened her creative horizons, a shift in her process which saw her reach new heights of self-expression. Having explored many different mediums, it was in recent years that Louise began to use alcoholic ink. There was something about the free flowing nature of this ink which combined with Louise's style perfectly. Alcoholic ink almost has a mind of its own and, when it is brought together with the creative mind of Louise Schofield, it leads to some spectacular results.
Louise Schofield art seems to combine the washes and layers of abstract, with touches of the recognisable. From hints of sails in the distance, to the possible stem lines of a plant or flower. Elements or combinations of colour trigger memories of similar things, but as with art, this is open to the interreptation of the viewer.
Uplifting Original Art
Louise has said of this revelation that alcoholic ink allows her 'to create the most spectacular and eye catching pieces of artwork that will brighten up any house or office.' Take a look through the range here and you will not be shocked to hear that Louise has also said that her work 'is fuelled with positivity, joy and love.' The rich emotional and joyful drive behind her work, along with her unique talent and originality with her medium of choice, adds up to some truly astounding pieces of art.
