Jennine Parker
Jennine Parker's art is a beautiful marriage of texture, shape and a sense of dynamic movement. Although sculpted art stands still, Jennine's has the feeling of movement. This feeling of movement is informed by the shapes which, often inspired by the human form, seem to flow. This grounding in living beings as a foundation to her work always gives the pieces a strong warmth of personality which means that this sculpture never feels cold and remote. Jennine in fact is, on the contrary, inspired by connection. She has said that she loves it when people are drawn in by her sculpture to the point of wanting to touch it and pick it up, so elegant and attractive are the shapes.

From Graphic Design to Sculpture
Jennine Parker was born in 1971 in Wolverhampton and, after having studied art and design at Stourbridge College of Art, she embarked on a successful 20 year career in graphic design. It was then her choice to explore the world of sculpture through further study at Monshill College in Dudley; this then led her to choose to pursue a career in sculpture whilst continuing her graphic design freelance. This new freedom meant that she had the time finally to express herself creatively through her own projects. She set up a studio in rural Kenilworth and got to work painting and sculpting. This decision to pursue her creative passion has certainly paid off, as Jennine has had success selling her work all over the UK, where she has also had multiple exhibitions.
Capturing Life Through Sculpture
Among some of her most important influences she says are Rodin, Henry Moore, Barbara Hepworth and Peter Hayes. A talented painter and drawer as well as sculptor, Jennine always finds inspiration through daily sketching. She regularly hones her life drawing skills and has said that this is an important part of her practice as an artist. It is clear that pushing herself to capture the essence of life through precise lines and shapes is something that transfers directly across to her sculpted work.
