Paitoon Jumee
Born in 1978, Paitoon Jumee is a Thai painter who studied at Vijitsil Art School and then graduated from Thai Pochang University in 1998. Trained in woodblock engraving and printing processes including lithography, Paitoon chose painting as his preferred medium to pursue as a career.

Portraits of Balance & Harmony
The monumental portraits he paints are often female and are presented to the viewer forward-facing in symmetry, giving a sense of balance and harmony. At times the sitter is looking directly ahead, at other times with eyes cast downwards or closed. There is something reminiscent of the iconic Buddhist sculptures in Jumee's work but he has combined this influence of Thai art with a contemporary vision.
Patterning & Layers
He applies painting techniques such as the superposition of repetitive patterning to create layers beneath the surface of the portrait. Perhaps this reflects the idea of a portrait which reveals the person's many aspects of character beyond surface deep.
